Pabulum Catering Celebrates a Fantastic Year of Fresh Food
The hard work and commitment of Pabulum’s catering teams and Fleet office personnel was recognised in an award ceremony on the day, with awards for innovation, outstanding achievement as well as recognising primary and secondary chefs who had gone the extra mile.
As well as sharing fun, laughter and celebrating achievements, Pabulum’s Meet 2015 also set out the school caterer’s targets for the future, including a plan to reduce the granular white sugar intake across the company by over 50%. This challenge is being headed up by Pabulum’s Development Chefs, as Executive Development Chef, Jacks Sykes explained:
“We already produce fresh meals on site and from scratch; however we want to develop the food culture within our teams as well as amongst our customers, to help them understand and learn about “better” food choices. We will be doing this in a number of ways and our commitment to reducing granular white sugar is just one new initiative we are working on. We aim to be at the forefront of improving the next generation’s health and well-being. By reducing sugar intake in this way we will help to achieve a reduction in diabetes and tooth decay of under 16s in the years ahead.”
Other goals unveiled on the day included the caterer’s progress in working towards becoming an Employer of Choice. Having completed an employee survey back in February, the results were revealed along with plans for the year ahead. Some encouraging survey results were recorded, with 94% of staff saying they were happy working for Pabulum and ‘happy children’ cited as the number one thing that gave staff job satisfaction. Managing Director, Nelson Williams commented:
“It was fantastic to see so many happy and smiling people at Meet 2015, our annual conference and awards ceremony. I am incredibly proud of all our people and it was particularly pleasing to see so much recognition for all the outstanding work this year. It’s so important to take time out to celebrate success and achievements, as well as focus on the future. Pabulum has enjoyed another excellent year, we are proud to be recognised within the industry as an outstanding company. Our reputation is down to the hard work and dedication of all our staff and Meet 2015 was about recognising this and saying thank you.”
The day also saw Pabulum, who are known for their commitment to serving fresh food, pledging to continue promoting the freshness, quality and provenance of the food on their school menus. Purchasing Manager, Nicola Freeman explained:
“This year we are continuing to take groups of pupils out onto farms to show them the provenance of our food. It is imperative that our customers understand that the food they are eating has been carefully selected to ensure it meets our standards for fresh and sustainably sourced produce.”
The day was hailed a huge success with staff coming away with prizes and certificates for their achievements together with inspiration and ideas for the new school year. To find out more about Meet 2015 visit www.pabulum-catering.co.uk.
