One of the causes to benefit from the fundraiser was Pabulum’s chosen charity the Red Balloon Leaner Centre Reading, which helps children who are unable to go to school because they have been severely bullied, suffered a trauma or abuse. Funds were also raised for Delilah Read, a local baby girl fighting a rare form of cancer.

Pabulum staff at Rickmansworth gave up their time to bake some of their very popular cookies to sell at the fun run. The cookies were certainly very well received, with 447 cookies in total sold on the day. Executive Chef Manager Nerissa Buckley, spoke about the day and the team’s motivation for getting involved:

“When I heard one of my team talking about her friend’s desperately ill baby I was moved to tears and action. I then thought of all the children who struggle every day and how we could help the Red Balloon Learner Centre and the school too. My wonderful team were all willing to give their time to bake for these important causes as they are all close to our hearts.”

The day was a huge success and enjoyed by all who took part, including staff and students. General Assistant at Rickmansworth, Jo Jones said the event was incredibly worthwhile:

“At some point in our lives we have known someone who has been affected by cancer or may have been subject to abuse in some form. To give up our time to contribute towards helping children in these situations is worth every second.”
