Universal Infant Free School Meals

Following a full review of school meals in England in 2013 the Government introduced universal infant free school meals for all Key Stage 1 pupils from September 2014. Whilst school meals aren’t mandatory you could save up to £400 per year as well as the time involved in buying and making up packed lunches.
Without a good lunch or breakfast children find it hard to concentrate and quickly fall behind in lessons - School Food Plan Report, July 2013

Child carrying vegetables Research showed that only 1% of packed lunches are as healthy as a school meal so it really is worth letting your child try a school meal whilst in Key Stage 1.

If your child doesn’t currently have school meals why not speak to your school office or class teacher about how you book your child in to try them.
