To mark its fifteenth anniversary, Red Balloon, our nominated charity, held a Summer Ball at Childerley Hall, Dry Drayton, on Saturday 10 September and we were delighted to prepare and ‘donate’ a fabulous three-course dinner to help support this important fundraising event.
The charity, which aids the recovery of bullied children, was supported by over 250 guests on the evening – who all travelled to the beautiful venue, nestled in the Cambridgeshire countryside. The evening began with a champagne reception in the gardens of the Tudor Hall and was followed by a three-course dinner, which included: smoked fish terrine followed by cannon of lamb and filo baskets, then a trio of delicious desserts: chocolate fondant, summer tart and chilli pineapple. Dedicated volunteers, including a group of Pabulum staff, made sure that food and drink was served with style throughout the night.
Throughout the evening, there was entertainment from Red Balloon students, staff and local bands. The evening also provided guests with the opportunity to win prizes from a tombola as well as take part in an ‘Auction of Promises’.
We’re so pleased that we were able to support such a worthy cause and look forward to hearing how much has been raised!
A little more about our nominated charity…
The aim of Red Balloons is the recovery of bullied children. They provide an 'intensive care' full-time education for children aged between 9 and 18 who are unable to go to school because they have been severely bullied. At least half of the students they take have attempted or seriously considered suicide.
Red Balloon promises the students whom they accept a safe environment with clear boundaries for behaviour, and an individual full-time academic, pastoral and therapeutic programme.
Once the students have regained their confidence and are able to cope academically and socially, Red Balloon supports them in their return to mainstream school, their entry to further education or to employment.
