Our brave Island Team Walk The Wight
The largest charity walk in the South - 17th May 2009
Walk the Wight over the Island's beautiful hills
This Walk is predominantly along walking trails across and including the Bembridge and Tennyson Trails.
26.5 miles – Bembridge to Needles Park (7-10 hours)
The Walk is marshalled and signed throughout and covered by St.John’s Ambulance teams (luckily our team didn’t need St John’s). There are 6 toilet stops and 8 water points along the whole route.
“Due to severe weather conditions only myself and Yvonne completed the entire walk with Yvonne’s daughter doing most of the second half.
We experienced gale force winds,(force 8) heavy rain and sunshine along the way walking across the tops of the downs on the west coast the wind was so strong you could not walk in a straight line.
That said we completed the 26 miles in 9 hours including our 45 min stops for breaks
Both Yvonne and I have sore legs but both managed to be in work today.
Perhaps this could be a challenge to pabulum (especially the board) is their any one fitter out there who could do this event in a shorter time.
Or are Yvonne and I the only supreme athletes (or nut cases) in the company?” Says Kevin
