In Spring 2021, we introduced our new menu cycle.
The menus were designed to be more flexible and adaptive by way of allowing each school the choice of dishes they would like served in their dining rooms. This new format allowed us to be more in touch with each school’s favourites, allowing them to create a menu that is best suited for them and their pupils.
Using seasonal and fresh British produce as our core ingredients, dishes such as Chicken & Vegetable Curry, Cumberland Sausage, Mash & Gravy and Strawberry Cheesecake are already proving to be very popular.
The menus include more vegan dishes such as Homemade Vegan Burger, Butterbean & Squash Curry and Vegan Chilli Con Carne. This is in keeping with the growing trend of eating plant-based foods. These dishes are healthier eating choices which also have a positive impact on the environment.
Our desserts were created using fewer complex sugars, replacing them with hidden vegetables and fruits. Fresh ingredients like beetroot and parsnips add natural sweetness to our baking and desserts.
We looked closely at the ever-growing need for special diets and allergens. The menu choices and recipes were carefully engineered to limit the inclusion of allergens, or the very least, to have a meal choice on each day to be completely allergen free.
